Richmond’s line-up will be strengthened by dual premiership stars for the second consecutive week with Shane Edwards, David Astbury and Josh Caddy named to take on Adelaide tomorrow evening.

Exciting young tall Mabior Chol is another inclusion for the important final round clash, following a five-goal haul in the Club’s most recent scratch match.

It will be Chol’s tenth senior appearance for the year, making it the most games he has played in an AFL season since arriving at the Club at the end of 2015.

Tom Lynch (hamstring), Ivan Soldo (knee) and Shai Bolton (corked calf) are all out of the side through injury, while Oleg Markov has been omitted.

Speaking yesterday at his weekly media conference, coach Damien Hardwick described Edwards as a “spiritual barometer” for the team.

“The way he goes about his game, and the way he goes about his business in the hub here, has just been so important to us in the short time he’s been here,” he said.

“He really does bring a smile to everyone in our organisation. You only have to watch his influence on the track today; the way he trains (and) the way he brings other players into the game, he’s certainly an important addition for us come this week.

“From our point of view, he is fit and ready to play and he is jumping out of his skin to play, so that’s a real positive for us.”

Astbury will add extra height and leadership to the Tigers’ back six having made a successful return from injury against Geelong in last weekend’s scratch match.

Caddy also played in that game, mainly as a forward, having overcome a minor hamstring issue. It will be the 27-year-old’s first appearance at AFL level since the Round 11 loss to Port Adelaide.

Markov, Nathan Broad, Riley Collier-Dawkins and Ben Miller have been named as emergencies.

Richmond must beat the in-form Crows to guarantee a top-four finish and a vital double chance in the Finals.
