Richmond VFL playing coach, Steve Morris, provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in last Saturday's Round 5 win over GWS.

Josh Caddy (32 disposals, eight marks, eight tackles, two goals)

"Josh found plenty of the footy on the weekend. He was physical in and around the contest and was able to hit the scoreboard in a very rounded performance."

Will Martyn (32 disposals, seven marks, seven tackles)

"Will was very good. He was not afraid to get in and under and win the contested footy for us to enable us to use it on the outside."

Derek Eggmolesse-Smith (28 disposals, nine marks, nine rebound-50s)

"Derek had a great game. He started the game very strongly and maintained his starting points and physicality all day. His ball use was of very high quality once again."

Thomson Dow (31 disposals, six marks, six inside-50s)

"'Dowy' was sensational on the weekend. His clearance work and lateral movement around the contest were a real highlight. Really encouraging game from him given the amount of footy he’s missed lately."

Garrett McDonagh (27 disposals, eight inside-50s, eight marks, one goal)

"Garrett was back to his best with his ball use out of back-half on the weekend. He worked hard to get involved in our link-up play and repeatedly drove the ball inside-50 for us, including a couple of long shots on goal."

Bailey Henderson (24 disposals, 10 marks, seven inside-50s, one goal)

"Hendo has been playing down back in the first part of the season to help us fill some gaps, but really responded well when given the opportunity up the ground on the weekend. He got better and better as the game went on."

Fraser Elliot (23 disposals, three marks, four clearances)

"Fraser had a super first game for the club. We were really pleased with his first half despite him having a low possession count at half-time. He won a lot of his own footy in the second half and his strength in the contest and hands under pressure were a highlight."

Callum Coleman-Jones (19 disposals, five goals, seven marks, 17 hit-outs)

"'CJ' is playing some great footy at the moment and the weekend was no different. His contested work in the air has been first class and he’s also getting some good opportunity in the ruck. Five goals was a dominant display."

01:27

Sydney Stack (19 disposals, two goals, seven tackles)

"'Stacky' is improving with each game. He was extremely dynamic when he went into the middle on the weekend and used the footy well. Tackle pressure was also very pleasing."

Ben Miller (19 disposals, six rebound-50s, three marks)

"Ben was solid in his 1 v 1 contests on the back of his body work. He has taken on a real leadership role in helping set us up behind the footy. It was nice to see him also backing his kicking and getting involved in our attack."

Sam Durham (19 disposals, six marks)

"Sam was good again. He was very reliable, tough in the contest and good overhead. His flexibility to play wing and half-back was also important for us."

Mabior Chol (18 disposals, 22 hit-outs, one goal, eight marks)

"Had another good game. His ruckwork was good, he provided a great presence for us in the air, and his second efforts were sensational as highlighted by his 7 tackles."

02:04

Jake Soligo (17 disposals, four marks, three tackles)

"Jake had a really impressive first game. He played predominantly on a wing and more than held his own. It’s a tough ask to come in and play without much training with our group, but he acquitted himself extremely well. He’ll take a lot of benefit out of that game."

Samson Ryan (14 disposals, 14 hit-outs, six marks, two goals)

"Sampson was a great presence for us in the air on the weekend alongside CJ and Mabs. Our ball movement was much more fluent on the weekend which also helped. He is progressing nicely and it was good to see him hit the scoreboard again."

Brad Melville (16 disposals, eight marks, five inside-50s)

"Brad didn’t have a huge game numbers-wise but he was really important for us getting up and down the ground with his incredible work rate."

Bigoa Nyuon (15 disposals, eight marks)

"'Biggy' took a number of intercept marks on the weekend. He was at his best when he was physical with his opponent and his running ability enables him to become a part of our attack."

Maurice Rioli Jnr (13 disposals, five tackles, five inside-50s)

"Maurice was busy as always around the footy. His intent was really strong and he hunted the opposition and forced countless turnovers for us."

Angus Hicks (13 disposals, five marks, three tackles)

"Angus uses the footy extremely well and we love the footy in his hands as a result. He has been providing us with a great outlet with his high work rate."

Matt Bartlett (12 disposals, two goals, five marks)

"Matt has brought great energy to our group in the short time he’s been with us and was rewarded with his debut on the weekend. He loves a goal and was able to hit the scoreboard on the weekend, but he’s also working hard on the defensive side of his game which has been great to see."

Lachlan Street (nine disposals, three marks)

"'Streety' was good down back on the weekend which was a change of role for him. Although his numbers weren’t high, he was very composed and played a really important role in helping set us up behind the footy. His understanding of various roles is very beneficial for the young players around him."

Joel Nathan (eight disposals, four tackles, four marks)

"Joel fought really hard again on the weekend. He is starting to gain a much better understanding of our structures and is working well alongside the other keys down back."

Cam Olden (seven disposals, three goals, four tackles)

"Kicked three goals in his debut for the club which a great reward for the work that he has put in. He has also been constantly turning up at contests and putting pressure on the opposition in our forward 50."
