Richmond youngsters and 2021 senior debutants Hugo Ralphsmith and Will Martyn have penned fresh deals to remain at the Club beyond this season.

Ralphsmith, 19, signed a two-year extension, keeping him at the Club until the end of the 2023 season, while Martyn, 20, has committed for 2022.

Ralphsmith has had a good taste of senior football in 2021, playing five matches, including one as the medical substitute.

The versatile youngster has shown his skills with three classy goals at the level, including two in quick succession in the Round 11 game against Adelaide, and the sealer against North Melbourne at the MCG last weekend.

Ralphsmith has averaged 10 disposals and 2.5 score involvements from the four games he has started this year.

Martyn made his senior debut in the Round 4 loss to Port Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, gathering 10 disposals. He was also an unused medical substitute in the Round 10 game against Brisbane.

The inside midfielder has been a dominant force for the Tigers at VFL level, averaging 25 disposals and six tackles per game this season.

Richmond General Manager - Football Talent, Blair Hartley said the young duo had relished the opportunity to be back playing regular football after only having scrimmage matches in their debut seasons.

“Even with the challenges of last year, Will and Hugo have impressed since first arriving at the Club,” he added.

“Both players have been working hard on their craft, and it has been fantastic to see them rewarded with senior opportunities this year.

“We are really excited by what both Will and Hugo can achieve in the future and are delighted to have them commit to Richmond.”
