Richmond signed 217cm former basketball player Patrick Carr to its AFL list as a Category B Rookie in May, 2026.
Carr joined the Tigers after playing college basketball for the University of Texas at Tyler. He appeared in 11 games in the 2024/25 season and another four in 2025/26, while also studying Business Management.
The 20-year-old returned to his hometown, Melbourne, in early 2026 and has since decided to pursue his AFL dream. Carr grew up playing both football and basketball, having last played football for Banyule at U14 level.
At 217cm, Carr will become the tallest listed player in AFL history.
