Tim Taranto celebrates a goal against Richmond in Round 2 this year.

Get to know more about Richmond’s new recruit Tim Taranto.

1.    He was born on January 28, 1998, one day after his new Tiger teammate Liam Baker.

2.    His mother, Jess, is a nurse who has won scholarships for her post-graduate research.

3.    His father, Phillip, is an American who lives in Texas.

4.    He grew up in the Melbourne bayside suburb of Cheltenham.

5.    He played junior football with Mordialloc-Braeside before joining NAB League team Sandringham Dragons.

6.    He was a key member of the Dragons’ 2016 premiership team.

7.    He was a very good junior basketballer and represented Vic Metro in the under 16 championships before deciding to pursue an AFL career.

8.    He was a student at St. Kevin’s College.

9.    He barracked for Melbourne as a youngster.

10.    He starred for Vic Metro in the 2016 football under 18 championships and subsequently was selected in the All-Australian team as a forward pocket, with new Tiger teammate Jack Graham also a member of that side.

11.    After being taken by Greater Western Sydney at pick two in the 2016 AFL national draft, he made his senior league debut in the opening round of the 2017 season against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval, picking up 13 disposals.

12.    The team he has kicked the most goals against in his AFL career is Richmond (13 in total, with Brisbane, five goals, next).

13.    His first game at the MCG was the 2017 preliminary final against Richmond.
