Shai Bolton’s dazzling display in Richmond’s fighting 13-point victory over Sydney at the MCG last Thursday night earned him maximum votes in the AFL Coaches Association’s Champion Player of the Year Award voting for Round 17.

The superbly-skilled dual Tiger premiership star was given the 10 votes after finishing the match with an equal game-high 31 disposals, game-high 17 contested possessions, three marks, nine inside-50s, nine clearances, an equal game-high five centre clearances, a game-high 10 score involvements, four intercepts, three tackles and a team-high 598 metres gained.

Bolton now has 42 votes for the season in the prestigious award, with 25 of those coming since Round 12.

Richmond superstar Dustin Martin picked up eight votes for his top-class performance – 29 disposals, 14 contested possessions, five marks, five inside-50s, six clearances, one goal, eight score involvements, three intercepts and 286 metres gained.

Tigers co-captain Toby Nankervis polled five votes following his strong showing on the night – 19 disposals, 12 contested possessions, three marks, four inside-50s, six clearances, one goal, eight score involvements, five tackles, 33 hit-outs and 243 metres gained.

Rounding out Richmond’s Round 17 vote-winners in the coaches’ award was Jack Ross with one vote.
