Sam Lloyd will join the Western Bulldogs after a deal was finalised today in the 2018 AFL Trade period.

Richmond will receive the Bulldogs' fourth round selection, currently pick 64 in this year’s National AFL Draft in exchange for Lloyd.

The 28-year-old forward-turned-midfielder will cross to Whitten Oval after five years with the Tigers.

During his career in the yellow and black, Lloyd played in 57 senior matches and booted 69 goals.

The mature-age recruit was drafted to the Tigers with pick No. 66 overall in the 2013 National AFL Draft.

Richmond’s General Manager – Football, Neil Balme, said Lloyd was a well-liked player at the Club.

“Sam came to Richmond as a 23-year-old and quickly became a popular person amongst the players, coaches and staff,” Balme said.

“He had limited opportunities at AFL-level this year and we respect his decision to seek a trade.

“We wish him all the best in his future at the Western Bulldogs.”
