Richmond duo James Trezise and Steely Green have been rewarded for their strong starts to the 2025 AFL season with fresh contracts for 2026.

Trezise and Green have each played in all eight AFL matches to start the season, prompting the contract extensions.

Green, 21, joined the Club from South Fremantle with pick No. 55 overall at the 2022 AFL Draft.

The disciplined half forward with a strong sense for goal earned his AFL debut in Round 11 last season and booted five goals across his six senior matches.

Green has taken his game to another level in 2025 as a mainstay in the Tigers’ forward mix, impressing with his defensive pressure and cleanliness with ball in hand.

The West Australian has averaged 10 disposals and two tackles per game and has kicked another five majors to take his career tally to 10 goals from 14 games.

Trezise joined Richmond’s AFL list in the 2023 mid-season draft via the Club’s VFL program, having won a premiership for local team Tooradin-Dalmore the year prior.

The left-footer impressed with 17 disposals and five rebounds in his AFL debut in the final round of the 2023 season and added seven games in an injury-interrupted campaign last season.

Trezise, who has spent the past 14 games in the senior team, has averaged 14.5 disposals this year in wing and half-back roles.

The 22-year-old has impressed with his versatility and athleticism, which allows him to play taller than his 188cm height and find the ball all over the ground.

Richmond General Manager - Football Talent, Blair Hartley, said both players had worked hard to solidify their spots in the senior team.

“James and Steely set themselves up for this season with excellent pre-seasons and have both taken their senior opportunities with both hands,” he said.

“Steely plays an important role for the team each week with minimum fuss and is a reliable teammate who continues to grow and show what he can do at AFL level.

“Likewise, James has displayed a skillset that can help the team in various positions and has been impressive with his consistency.

“We look forward to seeing both players continue to take steps forward in their AFL careers, and these contract extensions are a fitting reward for what they are already achieving.”
