High Performance Manager Ben Serpell provides this week’s injury report as Richmond prepares to host Adelaide on Sunday.

This Injury Report is brought to you by nib. With nib, life could be potentially amazing.

Ruckman Mate Colina suffered an injury to his shoulder late in the final quarter of the VFL game on Sunday, which will see him sidelined for the remainder of the season.

“Sadly, for Mate he dislocated his shoulder in the VFL game towards the end of game, and unfortunately for him, I think his season is done,” Serpell said.

However, Serpell was pleased with the return of first-year player, Taj Hotton, who made a successful VFL debut after returning from an ACL.

“He went really well,” Serpell said.

“From a football perspective, they were happy with him and from a physical perspective, he pulled up really well, and we will look to increase his game time this week.”

Sam Lalor: Hamstring, Test

“Sammy has done really well from a rehab perspective, and he will be a test this week,” Serpell said.

“We will make him available on the selection table, and then the coaches will make a call on his future from there.”

Harry Armstrong: Hamstring, 1 week

“We expect him to get through training this week and hopefully see him running around in that week against Geelong,” Serpell said.

Josh Gibcus: ACL, 1 week

“Gibo is doing exceptionally well,” Serpell said.

“I’d say this is his last week out, and then we will put him as a test next week, and we expect him to get some gametime in our game against Geelong next week, probably at VFL.”

Jayden Short: Calf, 1 week

“Shorty is likely to miss another week,” Serpell said.

“As I said last week, he was a test, but he probably didn’t perform as well as we would have liked him to, not just from an injury perspective but from a performance perspective.

“We will give him another week here and test him leading into our Geelong week game in a couple of weeks.”

Josh Smillie: Conditioning, 1-3 weeks

“Smils is doing very well,” Serpell said.

“I think we had him down for 2-4 weeks last week, and now we can bring that forward to one to three (weeks).

“I would comfortably say that it would be on the later end of that, but he is certainly getting a good body of work in, and this will set him up for his whole football career.”

Campbell Gray: Knee, 2-4 weeks

“Campbell Gray started doing a little bit of running last week and a little bit of kick and move, so happy to put a timeline on him now,” Serpell said.

“We expect him to miss the next two to four games and be back playing a bit later this year, so really good news on Campbell Gray.”

Kane McAuliffe: Quad, 3-4 weeks

“Sadly for Kane, he sustained a quad injury in training last week, and he was pulled from the game towards the end of the week,” Serpell said.

“We are expecting him to miss around three to four weeks now on that quad strain.”

01:54

Thomson Dow: Patella, 3-6 weeks

“Not a whole lot to update you on Thomson Dow,” Serpell said.

“He is still struggling a little bit with that patella, so we will just bring his weeks forward and see how he progresses over the next couple of weeks.”

Samson Ryan: Foot, TBC

“Samson is still struggling with his foot,” Serpell said.

“I don’t really have a timeframe on that, but he is still struggling with his plantar fascia issue.

“Hopefully we can get him out to do a bit of meaningful running in the next little while, and then we can put a time frame on his return.”

Mate Colina: Shoulder, Season

“Sadly, for Mate, he dislocated his shoulder in the VFL game towards the end of game, and unfortunately for him, I think his season is done,” Serpell said.

Judson Clarke: ACL, Season

“Juddy is doing quite well,” Serpell said.

“He is getting surgery this week, and beyond that, we will just get around him and look to the future and make sure we have the best rehab plan in place for him after that.”
