High Performance Manager Ben Serpell gives this week’s Injury Report ahead of the side's Round 21 clash against Gold Coast at People First Stadium.

This Injury Report is brought to you by nib. With nib, life could be potentially amazing.

After a gallant fight against the Pies last week, Serpell discussed the state of the squad going into our second last interstate trip of the season.

Tim Taranto is a test to face the Suns after his calf tightness, while as specified by Senior Coach Adem Yze post-game, Ben Miller "should be OK" after jarring his hip in the loss.

"It was a very tough end to the game last week. Credit to the boys, there was a bit of illness going through the squad last week," Serpell said.

"Not only did they work hard on field, but they were getting over a few viruses. They pulled up OK this week and we'll go through a bit of extra recovery."

Tim Taranto - Calf, Test

"Tim had a bit of calf tightness after the Perth game (against West Coast), unfortunately he felt that still in the warmup going into the game," Serpell said.

"What we're going to do is take a conservative approach. We'll put him on a test for this week. Also, his conditioning over the last week is something we're considering in helping make that decision.

"Hopefully he's OK this week and hopefully on the plane, but we'll go conservative with him if we have to."

Seth Campbell - Concussion, Test

"Happy to say that Seth's got through with flying colours so far," Serpell said.

"He's just got to get through training tomorrow and he'll be available this weekend."

Josh Smillie - Conditioning, Test

"Smil is a similar scenario to Seth, we've seen him out doing some training lately," Serpell said.

"I'm happy to say that if he gets through training this week, we'll consider him for a game.

"Of course there's a conservative approach we like to take with these young blokes, we'll continue down that path if we need to."

Mykelti Lefau - Calf, 2-4 weeks

"Mykelti is going OK. He's probably not progressing as well as we'd like him to," Serpell said.

"I had him down for two to four weeks last week. I'm going to stick to that at this point in time to make sure he progresses in a safe manner."

Liam Fawcett - Foot, 2-4 weeks

"Liam's done really well. He came out of surgery well, got into training pretty quickly," Serpell said.

"The boys downstairs (trainers) are doing a good job with him. We anticipate him back within two to four weeks."

Oliver Hayes-Brown - Hamstring, 2-4 weeks

"He was a bit tight after some aerial contests," Serpell said.

"With our ruck stocks, we want to go a bit conservative, around a two to four week timeline, to ensure we're doing the right thing by him."

Thomson Dow - Patella, 2-5 weeks

"Really happy to say that Thomson Dow is starting to respond well to his training," Serpell said.

"Whilst we'll be holding his return-to-play timeline similar to the past couple of weeks, hopefully we see that drop in the next couple of weeks."

Kane McAuliffe - Quad, 4-6 weeks

"Sad for Kane, because the week before, he got through our scratch match against Sandringham with flying colours. We wanted to make sure he got through another training session," Serpell said.

"Unfortunately, he had a re-strain in that training session. That's going to put him back for another four to six weeks."

Campbell Gray - Knee, 4-6 weeks

"He's doing quite well. We expect him back in around four to six weeks for hopefully the wildcard (VFL) and VFL Finals after that," Serpell said.

Samson Ryan - Foot, 4-6 weeks

"We'll put four to six weeks for Samson Ryan. He's progressing well and with our ruck stocks, we just want to look after them a bit more," Serpell said.
