Richmond ruck Poppy Kelly is simply excited for the prospects of the 2025 AFLW season, with high hopes for what lies ahead on Friday night.

The Tigers are poised to take on the Swans at North Sydney Oval on Friday night, in the first round of the season, with the playing group preparing to hit the ground running.

"We're super excited. It's been a long pre-season," Kelly told Richmond Media.

"We feel like we are really gelling and can't wait to get into it."

Specifically, for Kelly, who is entering her sixth season at the elite level, a new season is an opportunity to highlight the improvement of her midfield group, and their efforts to provide to the goal kickers.

"(The group) is feeling really good. Our midfield is feeling really connected," she said.

"Our midfield-forward connection is looking good as well, this year."

With two practice matches already under the side's belts, they're raring to go against a promising Swans outfit.

"I'm really excited for hopefully a few (Club) debuts. A few people are looking really exciting, 'G' (Caitlin Greiser) and Scotty (Paige Scott) are looking exciting up in the forward line," Kelly said.

"I'm just excited to watch them kick some goals."

Richmond take on Sydney at North Sydney Oval on Friday night from 6.15pm (AEST).
