Midfield coach Shaun Hampson took confidence from the side’s narrow loss to St Kilda in Round 6, labelling it the most “Richmond” like game the side has played this season.
Now, Hampson said the focus will be on maintaining that level of consistency for a four-quarter performance.
“It’s obviously been a frustrating season so far, and we haven’t got the results we wanted quite yet,” Hampson told Richmond Media.
“But we come away from that game thinking that is the most Richmond we have looked.
“As a coaching group, we spoke about how that looked like us through a lot of the game.
“It was much more of a Richmond-looking game, and that is something we have tried to focus on.”
Hampson lauded the work of his midfield group, praising the likes of Ellie McKenzie and Monique Conti for their relentless pressure and two-way running.
“She (Ellie McKenzie) is honestly one of the most beautiful kicks of the football that I have ever seen,” Hampson said.
“In my opinion, she is the best kick in the comp, and we would be silly not to get the ball in her hands as much as we could.
“She (Monique Conti) is just a ruthless competitor, and that’s what makes her the best, but it is also what really drives our group to be better as well.
“She makes everyone better by the way she goes about it, and she is the ultimate professional.”
The side now turns its focus to Brisbane, where they will be looking to claim their first win of the season against a tough Lions outfit on the road.
“The focus has really been on us for the last two weeks, and it’s about getting back to Richmond footy,” Hampson said.
“We will absolutely have a look at Brisbane and what their strengths are, and areas where we can get them.
“But the focus has been looking at our strengths at training and building that back up so we get to that Richmond footy.”
