Laura McClelland was voted by her teammates as Richmond’s Players’ Player for 2025 in recognition of her tough and fearless approach to the game.
Katie Brennan said McClelland is the ultimate teammate and someone she is glad to run out alongside each week.
“L-Mac is the kind of player that makes everyone walk taller,” Brennan told Richmond Media.
“She’s fierce, reliable, and relentlessly competitive, but what really sets her apart is how well she does all the little things.
“Her impact is immeasurable, and she’s a brilliant leader in our program.”
The 24-year-old showed her selflessness and team-first mentality on numerous occasions throughout the season by putting her hand up to play any position required of her.
McClelland was drafted to Tigerland with the Club’s second overall pick in 2019 and has since become a key utility, reaching her 50-game milestone in the final match of this season.
Her one percenters were on display in every match, making critical smothers, spoils and tackles that would inspire the side to play with the same toughness.
McClelland accepted the Players’ Player Award at Richmond’s Best and Fairest night at the Crown Aviary on Tuesday.
