Tim Taranto

Tim Taranto admits Richmond failed to "capitalise" when it mattered most against Brisbane in Hobart on Sunday, but knows the mistakes will be a motivator for the Round 15 clash with North Melbourne.

Going down by 35-points at the hands of the reigning premiers at Ninja Stadium was a tough pill to swallow, but also gave belief to the group that they can match it with the best.

For Taranto, it's now about righting the wrongs against the Roos this Sunday at the MCG.

"We missed opportunities in the second quarter. We were playing good footy, but didn't capitalise," Taranto said.

"They got their game going in the third quarter from stoppage...but I think we did alright overall at centre bounce and stoppage. There were a couple of classy finishes from them and we didn't capitalise. That was the difference."

On a personal note, the stand-in skipper collected 20 disposals and kicked two goals in the first half, going on to nab 29 touches by game's end.

"I felt I had some good moments. I thought it was a pretty good overall performance from everyone. We're still growing and still learning how to capitalise," Taranto said.

The midfielder also heaped praise on debutant Kye Annand, who, just three weeks ago, was a local plumber in Ocean Grove, before being selected by Richmond in the Mid-Season Draft, playing his first AFL match on Sunday.

"He's slotted in so well. He's one of the boys already and he's a natural. He looks like a good player. That was the first time I've played with him and seen him go about it. He had some great contests and looked at home. It was good to have him," Taranto said.

So what exactly needs to change ahead of Sunday's clash against the Kangaroos?

For Taranto, the answer is simple.

"The pressure was [good] from the start. We didn't bring that against the Swans. It was good to respond. But it doesn't count for much if we don't do it [this] week and hopefully get the win," Taranto said.
