Tim Taranto's strong performance against the Lions has been recognised, polling six votes in the Round 14 AFL Coaches' Association votes.
Despite the Tigers going down by 35 points at Ninja Stadium in Hobart, Taranto stood tall in a gutsy effort against Brisbane.
The stand-in captain had 20 of his 29 disposals by half-time, as well as two goals, the first time he has had at least 20 disposals and two goals in a first half.
Taranto also had five inside-50s, four centre clearances, six score involvements, five intercept possessions and six tackles.
Each week of the season, the two senior coaches vote on the best players in their respective match, giving 5-4-3-2-1. The maximum votes a player can get is 10 votes a week.
The overall league winner at the end of the season will be crowned the AFLCA Champion Player of the Year.
