Richmond has turned the page to its Friday night challenge against Geelong, focused on proving themselves against one of the AFLW's top teams.

The Tigers have recovered and studied the tape from their disappointing 55-point loss to Carlton last Friday, and are now hoping to correct the errors they made last week.

It won't be easy, with the third-placed Cats riding a wave of momentum and a six-game winning streak, their only loss of the season coming in Round 1 against North Melbourne.

Richmond coach Jarrad Donders has declared his team up for the fight, explaining how they want to close the gap between them and the competition's benchmarks.

"We talk a lot about closing the gap on these better sides in the competition, and we've shown great progress this year on beating sides below us, but we need to continue to close the gap on these sides that sit above us," Donders said.

"We were probably a little bit off in some fundamentals [last week], so we will be getting to work around what that looks like...getting back to the basics.

"The Cats played a great brand of footy [last Thursday night], really attacking, and we look forward to that challenge. We want to be playing the best sides and giving ourselves the best opportunity to perform, so we are excited."

Co-captain Ellie McKenzie highlighted two key areas of improvement the Tigers need to make to take down Geelong.

"Our shape around the ball needs a bit of work, and on transition as well, being a bit more proactive with our accountability and finding our defenders across the ground," McKenzie said.

Richmond hosts the Cats at IKON Park on Friday night at 7.15pm.
