The Northern Knights’ already impressive reputation as a nursery for Richmond players was further enhanced on the back of the Tigers’ premiership triumph this year.

Eight members of the Richmond side that trounced Greater Western Sydney in the 2019 Grand Final played football at under-18s level with the NAB League club – captain Trent Cotchin, Josh Caddy, Jason Castagna, Dylan Grimes, Kane Lambert, Jayden Short, Ivan Soldo and Nick Vlastuin.

Another product from the Northern Knights, talented, youngster Patrick Naish, played in the Tigers’ VFL premiership team.

The next best NAB League (formerly TAC Cup) club representation in Richmond’s 2019 AFL premiership line-up was Calder Cannons and North Ballarat Rebels with two apiece.

Dion Prestia and Brandon Ellis were from the Cannons, while David Astbury and Daniel Rioli played for the Rebels.
