Richmond is pleased to announce the appointment of Mark Williams to its coaching staff.
Williams, the senior assistant coach to Kevin Sheedy at Greater Western Sydney for the past two years, has joined the Tigers as a development coach.
“Mark has an outstanding pedigree as a coach, in particular with the development of young players, and we’re thrilled to have him join our coaching group,” said Richmond’s General Manager of Football, Craig Cameron.
“We have worked hard to build an exciting playing list over the past few years, and we believe Mark will really help add to the progression of the group.”
Williams has extensive experience in coaching at the game’s highest level. He coached Port Adelaide from 1999-2010, guiding the Power to its inaugural premiership in 2004 and another Grand Final appearance in 2007.
Current Richmond senior coach Damien Hardwick spent three seasons playing under Williams at Port Adelaide and was a member of that ’04 premiership side, along with Brendon Lade, who is now the Tigers’ midfield and stoppage coach.
