Toby Nankervis competes for the ball against Mark Blicavs in Friday night's win over Geelong.

Toby Nankervis’ importance within Richmond’s line-up was highlighted again in last night’s victory over Geelong at Metricon Stadium.

The robust dual premiership ruckman, in his only third game back following nearly two months on the sidelines with a syndesmosis injury, played a pivotal role for the Tigers.

He finished the match with 12 disposals, six marks, six intercepts, four score involvements, four tackles and 16 hit-outs.

Several times, he valuably filled the hole in Richmond’s back half, repelling dangerous Geelong attacking thrusts with strong marks.

Given the knee injury suffered by fellow Tiger ruckman Ivan Soldo in last night’s game, Nankervis’ significance to the team now becomes even greater throughout the remaining weeks of this season.
