The 26-year-old veteran of 56 league games was initially handed the captaincy reins of a particularly young Tiger playing squad for last week’s match against the Indigenous All Stars in Alice Springs, which was subsequently cancelled due to weather concerns.
But with Richmond again plumping for youth on the weekend, as a host of more experienced, senior regulars watch from the sidelines, the 26-year-old veteran of 56 league games was reaffirmed as captain by the Club’s playing leadership group.
The man, himself, is delighted to not only have been given the nod as skipper, but to have the full backing of his teammates.
“The boys have been really good. They’ve been behind me 100 per cent,” he said in an interview with Herald-Sun reporter Matt Windley this morning.
“I think that’s the biggest part - knowing that the boys trust you.
“It makes you grow an extra leg and really boosts your confidence.”
