Harriet Cordner was brilliant in her Richmond debut.

Experienced Richmond recruit Harriet Cordner made an immediate impact in her Tigers debut on the weekend, with a standout performance against the Lions.

The former Demon gathered 13 disposals, including 10 intercepts and seven marks, to be the best Richmond player on the ground in at least one of the coaches' eyes.

Cordner received three AFL Coaches Association Champion Player votes on the weekend, which are voted by each competing AFLW senior coach on a 5,4,3,2,1 basis after every game.

“I was really impressed by her competitiveness and fight. I thought she really backed her instincts and played like she was free,” Tigers coach Ryan Ferguson told media in his post-match press conference.

“She obviously was backing herself in, and I think she really led the way with that mindset.”

Cordner, 28, will go into her first clash against her old side Melbourne this weekend, where her grandfather was a Brownlow Medalist, full of confidence after the standout performance.

“I felt great, I feel really valued at Richmond, which was what I was searching for, so that’s been really amazing, and I felt that out on the field,” Cordner told Richmond Media on Sunday.

“I wanted to be launching for marks and spoils and getting off the ground. I felt like I did that today.”

Richmond takes on Melbourne at Casey Fields on Saturday at 5.10pm.
