Richmond has named mature-age recruit Kane Lambert to make his senior league debut in Saturday’s Round 2 match against the Western Bulldogs at the MCG.

Lambert, 23, was taken by the Tigers at pick 46 in the rookie draft late last year for his first shot at AFL football after missing out on club selection in several previous drafts.

Foley to make return in the VFL

The hard-working, determined midfielder had been a standout at VFL level, dominating with the Northern Blues and Williamstown, before joining Richmond.  He subsequently was elevated to the Tigers’ primary playing list on the eve of season 2015.

“We’re really excited.  He adds a lot of run to our side and ball-winning ability and can kick goals,” Richmond assistant coach Brendon Lade said on this week’s ‘Spotlight’ show.

“He covers the ground both offensively and defensively really well, so we’re looking forward to seeing what he can do on a big ground at the MCG.  He played on small grounds in the VFL, so get him on the MCG and he could run ragged . . .”

Lambert replaces Brett Deledio, who is serving a one-match ban handed down by the AFL’s Match Review Panel.

Richmond’s three emergencies for Saturday’s game are David Astbury, Ricky Petterd and Chris Knights.
