The key-position player, 197cm and 93kg, was Richmond's third selection in the 2019 NAB AFL Draft, taken at pick No. 54.

He's been a key pillar in the VFL Tigers' defence in 2022 on the back of a solid pre-season.

Triple-premiership duo Dion Prestia and Nick Vlastuin will also be welcomed back into the line-up, having both missed Richmond's Round 8 win due to illness.

Speaking to the media on Thursday morning, coach Damien Hardwick said the Tigers were looking forward to having the pair back "fit and firing".

"Last week was a challenge with both those two boys and we thought it would be the safer option to take the week," he said.

"We're really bullish about (Dion's) return, every now and then he's going to miss some games...but he's got a big body of work behind him so we're very confident once he gets back in and gets up and going, he'll be an an incredibly valuable player for us."

Edwards has been named as an emergency, alongside Will Martyn, Jake Aarts and Tyler Sonsie.

Richmond will confirm which player comes in as the medical substitute 60 minutes prior to the bounce.
