Richmond VFL coach Steve Morris provides a summary of how the Tigers’ players performed in Saturday's win over Southport at Fankhauser Reserve.

04:15

Tyler Sonsie (27 disposals, 11 contested possessions, six clearances, four marks, one goal)

"I thought he was right back towards his best. He had a much better balance between contested and uncontested possession, and he stepped in really well, leading us with six clearances."

Tom Brown (26 disposals, 11 rebound-50s, five marks)

"Continued his good form on the weekend. Probably wasn't quite as clean as he usually is with the footy in hand, but made some really good decisions and continues to be strong on defence."

01:54

Rhyan Mansell (25 disposals, eight marks, six tackles, two goals)

"I thought he was clearly our best player on the day. He stepped in really well as a forward, was really important on the wing at stages, had a team-high six tackles and kicked two really classy goals as well."

James Trezise (24 disposals, seven marks, six rebound-50s, three inside-50s)

"Another standout game. Won the ball back for us really well behind the footy, and played to our system really well. We're continuing to work with him on his offensive involvement, and I think he can continue to take that to another level."

Thomson Dow (21 disposals, four clearances, one goal)

"It was the best he's kicked the ball all season, his skills were beautiful on the day and he looked engaged around stoppage and dynamic. He continued his good form and also kicked a really important goal late in the third quarter from long range."

00:43

Garrett McDonagh (21 disposals, six marks, three tackles)

"He had a reasonable day. He was really important for us with his leadership, he played in the middle of the ground and his run was really noticeable. He went forward and also down back, so his flexibility was really key for his. He did hurt his ankle late in the game but it doesn't look as bad as first thought, and he should only miss a short period of time."

Lachlan Street (20 disposals, five inside-60s, four marks)

"Played in the midfield and didn't have his usual impact on the game, but still was pretty solid for us on the day."

Angus Hicks (19 disposals, four marks, three inside-50s)

"Got involved a fair bit on the day, but probably just didn't use the ball as well as he usually would. I felt that he still could have been utilised on the fat side of the ground a lot more than he was, but he's playing a really important role for us at the moment."

14:52

Bigoa Nyuon (18 disposals, 10 marks, six inside-50s, one goal)

"Had a pretty good game. He took 10 marks on the day and he kicked a goal and probably dropped a couple of marks inside 50 that would have given him scoring shots. But, I thought he had a much bigger influence on the game on the weekend."

00:57

Judson Clarke (16 disposals, seven marks, one goal)

"He looked really lively on the day. Played majority on the wing just through necessity and game situation, and I thought his speed and skills really stood out. He kicked the ball beautifully on the day and finished off with a lovely goal from a tight angle around his body."

Brad Melville (16 disposals, six marks, one goal)

"First time that we've seen Brad play down back for us this season, and I thought he had a really big impact on the game. His run and carry was really noticeable with his running ability, but he also had a really big couple of efforts on the last line of defence that he was able to nullify the opposition and win the ball back for us."

Noah Cumberland (14 disposals, six marks, five inside-50s, two goals)

"One of the more dynamic, explosive players on the ground. The opposition found it really difficult to tackle him, and he won contests ahead of the footy. He was selfless at times, which was great to see, and I was really pleased with his output."

00:56

Kaelan Bradtke (12 disposals, four marks, three goals)

"I thought it was his best game of the season. He's struck a really good patch of form. He kicked three goals on the day, took a couple of really strong contested marks, and looked to bring other players into the game. He was an imposing big man on the ground."

Matt Coulthard (11 disposals, four marks, one goal)

"His work rate certainly couldn't be questioned. He could have made a little bit more of his opportunities on the day, but the impact that he had, both from an offensive point of view but more importantly, from a defensive point of view, was pretty sound."

Steely Green (11 disposals, six marks, six inside-50s)

"Had a good day that could have been a lot better if we had have used him on a number of occasions. He's learning his role as a half-forward really well and we've seen great gains from his game over the last six to eight weeks. A really exciting player for us moving forwards."

Mutaz El Nour (11 disposals, four marks, two rebound-50s)

"He had a really good game behind the footy. His ability to win the footy back is really strong, and I thought he was able to stop a number of Southport's attacks, particularly when the game was on the line."

Tom Brindley (11 disposals, four marks, one clearance)

"Bit of an experiment playing him down back, and I think he's learning some really valuable lessons down there. We'll continue to play around with what deep defence looks like for him, but we always know that we can throw him into the ruck and he can have a big impact, just like how he did in the last quarter."

Mohammed Yassine (11 disposals, four marks, four inside-50s, one goal)

"Three games into his VFL career and it was quite an outstanding game from him. His patterns were really good, he used the ball well on the day, and looked very composed. His defensive pressure is also at a very high level. We're very lucky to have him as a part of our program."

Austin Johnson (10 disposals, three marks, two rebound-50s)

"Played down back and predominately quite deep in defence, which is pretty new to him. But, I thought he was really solid down there and made a really big impact as a part of our back six. He's a really reliable player wherever we choose to play him."

Cam Olden (nine disposals, two marks, two inside-50s)

"We played Cam predominately forward on the weekend. The great thing is, he was able to win contested footy ahead of the ball and create shots on goal. If he can continue to create that amount of opportunity in front of goals, we'll be really happy."

Luke Teal (nine disposals, five marks, four rebound-50s)

"Was okay on the day without being a standout. He definitely increased his defensive output the day, as opposed to the previous week. But, I still think he has a little bit more to give, as we have a lot of faith in his ability as a lockdown and rebounding defender."

Will Bravo (nine disposals, two clearances, one goal)

"I thought Will had a really good game. He played minimal game time, but he was involved in a lot of our scoring opportunities and he was tough at the footy. His work rate is second to none, and I think he's set the benchmark for this over the last couple of weeks."

Mykelti Lefau (six disposals, six tackles, one clearance)

"A really tough day up against a big, experienced ruckman. But, I thought he had a much bigger impact on the game than what the stats suggest. He led the team with six tackles and fought valiantly around the ground. I'm sure that he will continue to have a big impact in the latter part of the season."
