Injury Report: Round 3
High Performance Manager Ben Serpell gives an update ahead of the Round 3 match against St Kilda.
“It was good to see the boys turn up in the second half,” Serpell said.
“I think the upside of what we are seeing is that they are finishing the second half of the game quite well."
“So, what we do know is that they are in a good spot and can run out the game pretty well at the moment.”
Sam Banks
Concussion, 1 week
“Sam will go through the standard return to play protocol.”
“Not only does he have to deal with a concussion, but he also took five or seven stitches to the head as well."
“Hopefully he will be back playing in our game against Brisbane in a couple of weeks.”
Maurice Rioli
Hamstring, Test
“Maurice sustained a small hamstring injury last week and whilst we thought he would be ok to play on the weekend, we thought we would be conservative.”
“He will be a test for this week and hopefully get some game time in this round.”
Josh Smillie
Hamstring, Test
“Smillie has done a great body of work over the last few weeks and he’s training quite well.”
“He will be a test on the back end of the week, but make no mistake if we don’t think he is ready to go, we will look after him a little bit more.”
“He is certainly doing a lot of fast running and is in a great position.”
Hugo Ralphsmith
Hamstring, 1-3 weeks
“Hugo is in a great position as well and we could probably see how he goes this weekend.”
“But again, we want to look after him and we will look after him a little bit longer because if we don’t have to rush anything, we won’t.”
Dion Prestia
Achilles, 3-4 weeks
“No real change to Dion at the moment.”
“He will just keep pressing on with his rehab and we will look at him in about 3-4 weeks time.”
